The seven main islands (Gorgona, Capraia, Elba, Pianosa, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri) and smaller islands (Palmaiola, Cerboli and Formiche di Grosseto) form the Tuscan Archipelago. Some of the islands are visible from the beaches along the Gulf of Follonica and can be reached by ferry departing from Piombino. Guided tours depart from Castiglione della Pescaia.
