Considered one of the best preserved Medieval towns in Italy, Massa Marittima stands on a hill situated 20 km from Le Dune. Twice a year the town hosts the Balestro del Girifalco, a pageant where local people take part in a crossbow competition, flag throwing and drumming in Medieval costume. The village also offers other evening events throughout the summer.
